The bellow & the whale is the artistic collaboration of musicians/visual artists Bianca Goyette and Julia Lee Norris. Their sound draws on various genres and styles but is heavily rooted in the traditions of soul and folk music, and is accented with a moderns day indie-pop feel. Together they use overlapping thematic elements (imagery and sound) to erode the distance between the way we choose to see the world versus what is actually there. They experiment with harmony and vocal timbre, pulling in a range of emotion, from joyful and powerful to mournful and haunting. Born in Chicago (the partnership, not the individuals), the duo has released 6 studio singles with a new one every 20th of the month for the year 2020. They recently released their first official music video for their single \'the same song,\' a collaboration with brother/sister duo Josh and Sarah Anderson. B is a wild child, she is a dreamer, she is a cynic, she likes to move fast and looks back often. Julia Lee is quiet and unassuming; she is thoughtful, formulaic, and moves slowly and with purpose in a world she has carefully crafted. B came to Chicago by way of Montreal, New York, and DC before that. Julia Lee came from London, by way of Paris, and Buffalo before that. They came together in the middle, started making music in 2018, and never looked back.
