The U.S. economy in the upper Midwest and great plains is driven heavily by agriculture, with the seven-state region made up of Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota, being responsible for producing over 30 percent of the nation\\u2019s agricultural output. Nebraska continues to be a leader in the sector, with significant impact and high output, while occupying a substantial amount of cropland and pastureland in the region.
