False hope on G20? Unicorn dreams from Boris?
Friday 28th June 2019 Markets seem to indicate a little optimism on the outcome of the Trump Xi meeting at the G20 this weekend. But, as NAB’s Gavin Friend discusses with Phil Dobbie, there remains a long void between the demands on each side. Encouragement can be taken from the fact the meeting is going ahead, but will it lead anywhere? Equally, will Boris Johnson pull off a Brexit deal before Halloween? If not, it’s no deal. But there could be moves, again, to stop that happening. Data wise, the news is all a bit glum. Perhaps that’s because there’s a trade war on.
