Our First Guest Mr Dan Lee

Published: July 19, 2018, 1:30 p.m.

It was pretty damn wonderful having old mate and wonderful playwright Mr Dan Lee in the studio as my very first guest. Dan and I talk about Dan's creative arc starting as poet, moving into comedy and now as a playwright with an eye to move into screenplays. We have a chat about Dan's play Bottomless which will be debuting in Melbourne in November at 45 Downstairs.
Dan also steps up to the More Than A Whelan challenge and writes and performs a piece based on a prompt from MTAW muse Sootie. Coincidentally Dan chooses one of the same prompts as Sean 'a bird trapped in the house.' Dan didn't precisely write his poem. He actually spoke it straight into his phone in the car on the way to the studio.
Sean reads his poem 'The Shy God', based on prompts from Kathryn, Sootie and Rebecca.
Dan and Sean also discuss how Supertramp's 'Breakfast in America' album predicted the attack on the twin towers.
