Scottie Nell Hughes is a grassroots political strategist who recently served as the Political Editor for RightAlerts.com, the Host of E-Alerts Daily News Briefs and a columnist for Western Journalism. In the 2016 election, Scottie Nell was a political contributor for CNN election coverage as well as one of the first surrogates for the Donald J. Trump for President campaign.

First seen nationally on Piers Morgan Tonight, Scottie Nell has appeared on various political and business shows including nightly from the fall of 2015 to the summer of 2016 on Fox Business Networks Making Money with Charles Payne. She has been profiled by Glamour magazine, GQ, The Daily Beast and even parodied on Saturday Night Live.

Released in September 2014 by Worthy Publishing, Scottie authored her first book titled Roar: The New Conservative Woman Speaks Out which can be found in both Christian and secular book stores across the Country as well as ranked #1 on Amazon’s female Political book list for several weeks.

Formerly the News Director of the Tea Party News Network which she launched in 2012, Scottie Nell is also a former Politichick as well as an adjunct faculty member of the Leadership Institute.

She has been apart of numerous broadcasts from the Republican and Democrat National Conventions (for which she was awarded a Nashville Air Award in 2005), various national primaries, as well as the White House and the Pentagon and she was assigned to the White House Press Corps for Inauguration 2005. She also was in the first group of radio talk show hosts sent by the Department of Defense to travel to the frontlines of Operation Enduring Freedom in Iraq and Kuwait as well as the detention facilities at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

A Magna Cum Laude graduate from the University of Tennessee at Martin with a broadcast communications/ political science degree. Scottie Nell is the mother of two in elementary school as well as the wife of Chris Hughes who currently is elected to the Executive Committee of the Tennessee Republican Party.

Prior to stepping in front of the camera just over a year ago, Scottie Nell Hughes, established her conservative foundation in the talk radio media. Having started at the very beginning as the executive producer of the Steve Gill Show in Nashville, TN, Scottie Nell used her early years in radio to learn every element of a successful talk radio program. She eventually accepted roles with several nationally syndicated talk shows like the Rusty Humphries Show, The Michael Berry Show, The Mark Skoda Show and many others.

An active member in her community, Scottie Nell was named Citizen of the Year for the City of Hendersonville, TN in 2011 as well as Member of the Year for the GFWC Woman’s Club. Scottie Nell is married to Chris Hughes, a homebuilder and an Executive Committee member of the TN Republican Party and has two young children Houston (10 years) and Alexandria Lynn (9 years).
