The human story behind Australia's landmark Country Care criminal-cartel trial
When officials from Australia\u2019s competition enforcer raided a disability-aid store in the town of Mildura, they were making history. It was the first time that an individual had been charged under the country\u2019s 2009 criminal-cartel offenses; and the first time in over 100 years that an Australian company had been targeted by a criminal antitrust prosecution. It took Rob Hogan, the owner of the retail business, five years and millions of dollars to be acquitted of the charges. A year after the trial wrapped up, Hogan has decided to speak out about his ordeal. In this audio documentary, MLex reporter Laurel Henning takes us behind the scenes of the 12-week trial and examines the legal strategies used to clear Hogan of the charges.
