Episode 14: An Interview with Maikiko James of Women in Film

Published: Dec. 10, 2017, midnight

As the entertainment industry has seemed to be rocked to its very core over the past few months in the wake of the wave of revelations of powerful men abusing their positions to harass, assault and intimidate women, it seemed only appropriate to discuss the topic at length with someone uniquely qualified to do so. Luckily, Maikiko James was just such a person and was gracious enough to sit down with Carter for an hour. Maikiko is the manager of operations and public programs at the nonprofit Women in Film, which seeks to advocate for more equitable representation of women across the entertainment industry. She talks about the underlying causes of harassment, what's being done about it, and what needs to be done going forward.
