Opportunities to Win

Let’s discuss the “Opportunity to win”
What does that mean? Naturally, we seek out the vision of the road ahead and see the tough times and stress points.
I want to reshape that thought process a bit. This week, I want you to seek out the “Opportunities to Win” that lie ahead of you. Where are those potential moments or times that you could squeak out a little more. Maybe it is another rep in the gym, 10 extra minutes on that work project or 30 extra minutes with your kids or family.
Where are those times in your week? We all have them. Often times we overlook those times by saying phrases like “I don’t have time” or “I couldn’t get to that”. There are times that it is harder to actually accomplish things but every single week, there are times that we fail to capitalize on.
What are some common pitfalls and opportunities in a normal week for the average person? Here are my top 5:

  1. Facebook/Social Media
  2. Commutes to and from work
  3. Lunch breaks at work
  4. 30-60 minutes before bed time
  5. Hours before you leave for work

  1. Social media can consume us without us even knowing it. Start by limiting your overall screen time each week (there are great apps for tracking this). Remember, the more time we spend observing and tracking others lives, the less we spend nurturing and growing our own. Not to mention the subconscious impact it can have on us
  2. Commutes to and from work are great times to call a relative, listen to a podcast or ride in silence to allow yourself the time and space to analyze, grow and prosper in the space we currently have
  3. Lunch breaks at work can be tricky but if done right, you can frin 15-90 minutes per week that you can do things like read something, meditate or reconnect with yourself
  4. I am going to combine 4 and 5 because they are similar. We tend to squander a lot of the “free” time we have. Before bed and before work. These are great times to unplug from a screen and reconnect with kids or your spouse, read a book or just relax and allow the body’s central nervous system to do its thing.

In just those few examples I bet you have already identified the opportunities that you currently have available in your life that you can start to create new habits that will help you grow and thrive!
Seek out those wins! They are there for the taking if you so choose!
