MOVE FROM REACTION TO RESPONSE.
I’ve felt behind in this pandemic. I would check in on statistics and news beats but hadn’t stopped to get ahead of this thing in my own thoughts. Like I’ve been watching a game unfold on TV rather than being a player in it.
It’s interesting the pressure you feel when the scoreboard says you’re down and getting further behind.

And while I understand coronavirus is NOT the flu, the flu has some crazy statistics!
If we put the flu stats on a daily scoreboard for all to see, would we have the same level of panic?
The flu is no joke! The WHO estimates 3 million to 5 million get the flu each year world wide and 250,000 to 500,000 deaths A YEAR worldwide from the flu.
Most of you just skimmed past that last sentence. It didn’t phase you. “It’s just the flu”. “Oh ya, the flu. I’ve had that before.” Read it again.
And while the current fatality rate of the Coronavirus is higher in percentage than the flu... (and that fatality stat will likely go down as many have had the coronavirus and recovered but haven’t been tested)...
The flu has actually killed more people year to date than the Coronavirus.
Read that again. I’m afraid you may have skimmed over that sentence too.

*Those of you reading this and saying “Chris, this isn’t the same thing as the flu!”... yes, I’ve already said that. Notice the emotions rising in you. That is the Reaction I’m speaking of. If we are to get out in front of this we need to come from a different place. We need to think to ourselves, for ourselves about how we will move forward beyond this initial quarantine.
We can take the fear and panic out of this while still being clear about the facts.
