Lee has had a long and interesting career in ecology and conservation, but he was especially influential for being the writer of both the US Marine Mammal Protection Act and the Endangered Species Act. He tells us about how he managed to persuade President Nixon about the importance of conserving whales and dolphins, his role in ending commercial whaling, and also his interesting parallel career as a prize-winning racing car driver!
