Kooky British-born, Brooklyn-based indie rockers Covey sing about plane crashes and cannibalism, but listen closely, and you might find their songs hit close to home—frontman Tom Freeman bends outlandish stories to fit themes like depression. He wrote their most recent album Some Cats Live, Some Cats Die, "after a series of hapless circumstances gave [him] the push he needed to upheave his life in Boston and relocate to New York in pursuit of future success with his music," per a press release." The band joined us in the studio last month for a performance of five songs from the record, plus an honest conversation about the album's themes.
