Dr. Lipman trained at Georgetown, Harvard and Yale, and then became one of the world\u2019s leading experts in the nonsurgical removal of uterine fibroids. He has dedicated his career to spreading the word about a lower-risk solution to fibroids called Uterine Fibroid Embolization. This procedure has helped many women avoid a hysterectomy, which is currently the second most common surgery for women in the U.S.

Fibroids disproportionately effect African American women due to genetic and other factors. Dr. Lipman explains why sometimes-unnecessary surgeries for fibroids still occur so often in the U.S., and how he hopes to see that continue to change as awareness grows about other options.
