b'Samuel Bolen’s life passion is to connect the Church across cultural, socioeconomic, and geographical lines. He has more than 10 years of ministry experience among under-resourced communities and currently serves as the executive director of the Jackson Leadership Foundation. The Jackson Leadership Foundation works to provide resources and services that ministry leaders need to develop as leaders and grow their organizations. Through the Jackson Leadership Foundation, Samuel’s goal is to help people find out how they can make a difference in Jackson’s inner-city communities.

LEADERSHIP INSIGHTS

- Before you help someone, establish trust. After trust is established, confirm that you share a similar vision.
- Do the groundwork before starting something new and attempting to put it into action.
- One great way to prepare for starting your own work is to find people who are doing what you want to do and to join them.

ABOUT The Jackson Leadership Foundation

- Provides capacity-building services to help ministry partners develop their leadership capabilities.
- Looks to partner with grassroots leaders.
- Looks to connect resource communities with these grassroots leaders and the work they do.

QUESTIONS TO INSPIRE US TO ACTION

- What is some lesson, saying, or experience that continues to influence your leadership to this day? Samuel\'s calling that he experienced in college when he was beginning to help families from low-income communities - seeing their struggle and wanting to help them spiritually and physically.
- Use three descriptors to finish this sentence: “A leader is…” A servant, self-aware, and motivated.
- What is a question that leaders should be asking either themselves or others? "And what else?" This forces the leader to always be learning, depending on others, and self-evaluating.
- What book would you recommend to leaders? Building a Storybrand by Donald Miller
- If you could get every listener to start doing something THIS week to help them be a better leader, what would it be? Time management. Daily, weekly, and quarterly goals.
– As a general life principle, is it better to ask “why?” or “why not?” "Why not?" This is a harder and better question to ask. Fear of failure is a greater impediment to leadership than fear itself. If we ask "why not?" we are immediately saying that it\'s okay to fail because it\'s worth it.

Website:
https://www.jacksonleadershipfoundation.org/ (https://jacksonleadershipfoundation.org)

Music credits:DJ Quads | Cruise Around | Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/aka-dj-quads/cruise-aroundDJ Quads | Smile | https://soundcloud.com/aka-dj-quads/smileDJ Quads | It Just Makes Me Happy | Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/aka-dj-quads/it-just-makes-me-happy'
