The Ecclesiastes Community Choir was organized April 2, 1971 at the request of James C. Chambers in the home of Mrs. Gladys C. Swiney, music instructor of the Chicago Vocational High School.  James C. Chambers, a student of Mrs. Swiney and choir director at Haven of Rest M.B. Church asked if they could rehearse in Mrs. Swiney\'s home.   It was placed on Mrs. Swiney\'s daughter\'s heart to name the group the Ecclesiastes Ensemble.

As membership increased the name was changed to The Ecclesiastes Community Choir.  The choir is noted for an annual concert which took place in November.  They were a group of young people of all walks of life and denominations.

The choir would tour across country singing in across Chicago, New York City, Milwaukee WI and other cities throughout Wisconsin, Michigan, California, New Orleans and many more cities and states across the country.  ECC was a choir who would sing with James Cleveland, Albertina Walker, Patti LaBelle, Earth Wind & Fire and many other artists.

In October 1978 the choir filmed an hour special for Channel 38 (WCFL-TV) in Chicago and was presented "The Sound of Praise Award".  ECC sang on many other Television shows which included Saturday Nite Sing, AM Chicago with host Oprah Winfrey (the Friday before the show went national as "The Oprah Winfrey Show") and several other Television shows.

\\n

ECC has a library of Albums to which they started recording in 1972 when their first 45 was released.  ECC went on to record several albums with the last released 23 Psalms in 1987.  There is still some unreleased music by ECC, maybe one day the archives will be released to hear this timeless singing aggregation.
