One thing I recently noticed a lot of people doing (including myself) is that when we see someone do or achieve something great, we immediately elevate that person’s status in our mind.
But that frequently sets us up for failure.
Why?
Because that act of success is typically a result of a focused set of actions…yet we tend to elevate ALL actions of the individual and try to model those - even ones that have nothing to do with their success.
In this way, we make people “heroes” who really should be heroes.
I go into depth about a better way to think about this in today’s podcast episode.
