Hockey is heating up in America. Both participation and attendance are up, for one. And according to a Harris of America’s favorite sports, ice hockey today ties with men’s pro basketball as the fifth most followed sport among U.S. adults. In fact, the National Hockey League has grown so popular in recent years that it sold out more arenas than the National Basketball Association just a few seasons ago. Americans are even willing to pay 15 percent more, on average, to see an NHL match than an NBA game.
