We continue our observation of Black History Month. Julia Ggem introduces us to the Sanks family, which arrived in Nevada County in the 1800s. Chasey Sanks and her husband and brother rose from enslavement in the South to pave the way for opportunity for African Americans all over the state\u2014in business, education and politics. The California Report has a roundup of proposals that could make life easier for jurors, tenants and frustrated smart phone owners. We end with an essay by Molly Fisk.
