b'"Just to clarify, the piece is actually a song usually sung in Japanese by my friend Tamio Shiraishi. He often sings during very intense cathartic performances. These songs are kinda legendary among people who follow Tamio’s music but very few non Japanese speaking people know what they are. Rumors float around that he sings kamikaze, yakuza and prison songs. In 2009 when he was here in Glasgow performing with our trio Ki. I took the opportunity to ask him about the songs and he happily provided translation of his entire repertoire. This reading is of a ‘traditional’ Japanese Prison Song to which i have added the names of the most notorious federal prisons in the USA.” from email on August 26, 2017 Fritz Welch.
