A Green New Deal: Youth Leadership During The Climate Crisis
The Sunrise Movement burst into the national consciousness after staging a successful action at Nancy Pelosi's office in Washington, DC that caught the attention of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. That same day she announced her platform for a Green New Deal and called for the creation of a select committee to develop the legislation. Since then hundreds of actions have been staged across the country and more than 30 Representatives have backed the call. Despite the pressure soon to be Speaker Pelosi has not firmly committed to achieving these goals, so activists in the Bay Area took action to target and shut down her San Francisco office.
