Karen Lorene launched her retail career as an antique seller in 1972. Twelve years later, she opened Fac\\xe8r\\xe9Jewelry Art Gallery in downtown Seattle, which showcases up-and-coming designers with a focus on art jewelry.

Karen is also a novelist and has written several books on jewelry and small business best practices. She produces an annual journal,\\xa0Signs of Life, for Fac\\xe8r\\xe9 which combines jewelry design and contemporary literature.
