Irregular Warfare Episode 1: Afghanistan - a break point in modern warfare

After almost 20 years, the war in Afghanistan has ended. This war has been the subject of many studies due to its effects on how wars are fought nowadays. Ranging from a man-hunt for Osama Bin-Laden to a state building mission, many intricate and complex factors contributed to the extended duration of this conflict.

JASON Institute introduces its special series Irregular Warfare. William Bos Le Vinson discusses with Dr. Martijn Kitzen, professor at the Netherlands Defense Academy and former officer in the Dutch Army, about his personal experience in the conflict, the strategy applied by the West, the surrounding myths and common misconceptions surrounding the war as well as the lessons learned from the conflict.
