It\u2019s wonderful to have a sense of belonging. When you ask students about their group allegiances, they\u2019ll typically say things like:
I\u2019m a follower of a certain religion
I\u2019m a member of this family
I\u2019m an American
I\u2019m an Ohioan
I\u2019m a member of a political party
I\u2019m a Cleveland Cavs fan
I\u2019m a member of the softball team
I\u2019m a certain gender
I\u2019m a fan of a certain type of music
I have a certain sexual identity
I\u2019m a fan of the television show Parks and Rec
I\u2019m a member of Generation Z
Wouldn\u2019t it be cool if students also proclaimed, \u201cI\u2019m a proud member of Mr. Sturtevant\u2019s class!\u201d
