Frank Flood served as Ireland's Ambassador to Estonia, before taking up position in Vancouver. He has significant experience in working to promote peace and reconciliation on the island of Ireland, overseas development aid and the promotion of bilateral trade, on two assignments in Belfast, worked overseas with the United Nations Development Programme in Addis Ababa and served as Vice Consul in the Consulate General in Boston. Frank has a science and teaching background and is married with three children and one grandchild. His wife \\xd3rla N\\xed Bhr\\xf3ithe will be accompanying him on his assignment in Vancouver.\\xa0\\xa0\\xa0\\xa0 Message from the new Consul General Frank Flood Consul General's BiographyI am very honoured and greatly privileged to be appointed as Ireland's first Consul General of Ireland in Vancouver. The opening of a Consulate General Office in Vancouver is a recognition of the strong historical links between Western Canada and Ireland. This is reflected in the number of Irish people, of all ages and backgrounds living and working in British Columbia.Building on the work of the Irish Embassy in Ottawa and the Honorary Consul General in Vancouver, the Consulate will work to promote and protect Irish community interests in the Vancouver area by:\\xa0 \\xa0Providing high quality consular services and support for the Irish diaspora.\\xa0 \\xa0Facilitating the promotion of Ireland\\u2019s economic interests through our support of the Irish state agencies.\\xa0 \\xa0Further strengthening the strong bilateral relations between Canada and Ireland.My colleague Luke Hanlon and I operate from a\\xa0 Consulate General Office in downtown Vancouver since mid-September.
