The Ireland Canada Monument at George Wainborn Park Vancouver approved by Vancouver Park Board will be situated on the traditional, unceeded and ancestral territories of the x\\u02b7m\\u0259\\u03b8kw\\u0259y\\u0313\\u0259m (Musqueam), Skwxwu\\u03017mesh (Squamish), and S\\u0259l\\u0313i\\u0301lw\\u0259ta\\u0294/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations who have lived on the land known as Vancouver today since time immemorial.

Monument Society Directors convey sincere thanks to Vancouver Park Board, the City of Vancouver and leaders of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil Wautath First Nations for the opportunity to build the Ireland Canada Monument honouring people of Ireland (The Diaspora) who have contributed to Canada.

The site at Wainborn Park features a bosque of 32 Ash trees planted when the park first opened in 2004 and compliments the 32 Counties of Ireland - original homeland of the Diaspora of Ireland in Canada.\\u200b\\u200b\\u200b\\u200b\\u200b\\u200b\\u200b\\u200b\\u200b\\u200b\\u200b\\u200b\\u200b\\u200b\\u200b\\u200b\\u200b\\u200b\\u200b\\u200b

We are delighted to confirm that Vancouver Park Board and the Ireland Canada Monument Society \\xa0 \\xa0 \\xa0 are agreed to a design for the monument at the entrance to George Wainborn Park, Vancouver. \\xa0 \\xa0 \\xa0 \\xa0\\xa0

\\xa0 \\xa0 \\xa0 Walking into the site entrance we find ourselves in a bosque of 32 Ash Trees that have grown tall there for 32 years and surprisingly, complement the 32 Counties of all Ireland!\\xa0 The site plan includes sitting-down space around the bosque and, at the centre, a monument of stones from Ireland and Canada.

\\xa0 \\xa0 \\xa0 This monument will stand for countless generations in remembrance of all who came giving their lives and themselves from Ireland and building Canada.\\xa0\\xa0
