The Institute for Government was delighted to welcome Gavin Barwell, former Downing Street Chief of Staff to Theresa May. He discussed working in Number 10 and the role of the Chief of Staff.\n\nHe was in conversation with Bronwen Maddox, Director of the Institute for Government. There was an opportunity for audience questions.\n\nLord Barwell was the chief of staff to the prime minister from 2017\u201319. He was the Member of Parliament for Croydon Central from 2010\u201317. He served as minister of state for housing and planning at the Department for Communities and Local Government and was previously in the Whips\u2019 Office.
