Boris Johnson promised on the steps of Downing Street to \u201cfix the crisis in social care once and for all\u201d and the Labour Party has already promised to introduce free personal care for older people.\n\nBut the question of how to reform and fund adult social care has been asked of \u2013 and left unanswered by \u2013 successive governments.\n\nWe brought together a panel of experts to assess the extent to which the social care policies put forward by the parties in their manifestos could help fix the problems facing social care.\n\nOur panel included:\n\nLord Warner, former minister of state for health\nSally Warren, director of policy at The King\u2019s Fund\nCharles Tallack, assistant director at The Health Foundation\nNick Davies, programme director at the Institute for Government.\nThe event was chaired by Dr Hannah White, deputy director at the Institute for Government.
