At the beginning of the episode, we also offer a little insight into why this podcast is called “Inside the G-Base.”  So a G-Base is a shorthand for a Guerrilla Base Camp, where insurgent or resistance fighters are holed up to train, plan, and conduct attacks.  These bases are most famous with the US Jedburgh Teams and the French Resistance of WWII and the Montagnard fighters of the Vietnam Highlands, where Special Forces ODA’s waged an unconventional war against the North Vietnamese.  From those safe havens, unconventional warriors and Green Berets were able to train fighters or “G”s to affect a disproportionate influence against a much larger and stronger enemy.  This is how we view the podcast, and our listeners our “Gs”.  Through the Podcast, we strive to teach and train you to think reason, and question like a Green Beret.  Ambitious, I know. But when you hear how we became Green Berets maybe you will understand a little more how we approach seemingly impossible challenges.

So how did we become Green Berets? Just like everyone before us.  It's one thing to watch or read about the process, but its another thing altogether when you start looking at the motivations and drivers that push people to become Green Berets.  One of us was already a soldier, not doing the job he thought, but he was in the Army when he decided to try out for selection.  The other came right off the street and civilian life into the most demanding and challenging job in the world. But the path is never direct and without surprises.  I hope you all enjoy this episode, and even though its not as controversial as the last, I think there is still a lot to provoke thought and discussion about why some people choose to serve in the way that we do.
