On this week's Indy News Hour: \n\n\u2014Prakash Churaman joins us with his lawyer Jose Nieves:\nWhen Churaman was 15 he was was snatched from his home by the NYPD and bullied into making a false murder confession. He would spend 4 years on Rikers awaiting a trial while his peers went to high school and looked to begin building their adult lives. Churaman was convicted and then saw the conviction overturned on appeal but was forced to live under virtual house arrest with an ankle monitor that tracked his every move. The Queens DA\u2019s office was planning to retry Prakash in the hopes of sending him away to prison for life. But as his case grew greater public scrutiny, it began to collapse. Yesterday, at a routine pre-trial hearing, Queens prosecutors dropped all charges in the case to the astonishment of Prakash and his supporters.\n\n\u2014Layan Fuleihan, Education Director at the People\u2019s Forum: \nOn Friday, 10-15 members of a far-right/anti-vaxxer coalition stormed into the People\u2019s Forum, a socialist educational and cultural space on West 37th street. According to members of the People\u2019s forum who were present for the altercation, the NYPD facilitated the barrage by preventing the people\u2019s forum from forcing the occupiers to leave. The protesters remained in the space for over an hour, while staff and guests were physically assaulted and verbally harassed, and the space was vandalized.\n\n\u2014 Amazon Labor Union member Connor Spence and lawyer Seth Goldstein: \nSince winning a union election at the massive JFK8 warehouse in Staten Island in April, the amazon labor union has continued organizing in Staten Island and beyond. They are organizing for a union win in JFK8s three sister warehouses and Amazon warehouses around the country are indicating they want to unionize. But this is no easy fight, and in many ways, an uphill battle. While Amazon continues to pour millions of dollars into anti-union campaigning, the ALU is fighting to start contract negotiations at JFK8. These have been stalled by the corporation\u2019s objections to the JFK election results, which will be heard at the national labor relations board office in Pheonix, Arizona on June 13. On monday, the ALU faced off Amazon in labor court, and this time they were the ones bringing the complaints to the Board. That hearing was in regards to 6 unfair labor practice complaints filed by the independent union\u2019s legal team.
