On this week's show:\n\nIn the first segment, we talk about leftist and Workers Party founding member Lula da Silva defeating far-right incumbent Jair Bolsonaro in the Brazil presidential runoffs. We connect it to (and discuss) the governor's race here with Democratic incumbent Kathy Hochul being neck-and-neck in the polls with MAGA candidate Lee Zeldin.\n\nIn the second segment, we speak with Hall and Greyson of Starbucks Workers United (SWU), who are part of a group of workers that just launched a union campaign at Starbucks/Amazon go in Times Square. Worker-led SWU has organized over 300 Starbucks shops since last year.\n\nIn the third segment, we speak with Leo of Mexicanos Unidos, a politically-and-community-oriented group and community entity in sunset park, Brooklyn working to develop a critical, collective social consciousness for the Mexican community. The group, which was founded during the George Floyd Uprisings of 2020, hosts a sprawling weekly open-air market in Sunset Park called Plaza Tonatiuh and engages community in political education.
