Leaked audio provided to The Indy of a captive audience meeting on March 23, just two days before the current union election (March 25-30) happening at Amazon warehouse JFK8 on Staten Island. Amazon made sure each employee sat in at least 7 of these union-busting sessions masked as \u201crequired trainings,\u201d for which union busters made $3-10K/class, says the Amazon Labor Union. The person who asks the first question is Derrick Palmer, Vice President of Organizing, Amazon Labor Union. If you listen closely, after the meeting ends, some anonymous workers express grievances to Palmer about working for Amazon. At the beginning of this clip, you hear the meeting conductor telling workers they cannot not opt of a union. That is only partially true, as per 1988 Supreme Court case Commun. Workers of America v. Beck, which set the precedent that workers can partially opt out of private-sector unions (if they disagree with the politics of the union, a member can pay a lesser amount of dues that only covers the cost of collective bargaining for a fair contracts).
