Doris Anah\\xed Mu\\xf1oz was a long-time music manager, overseeing\\xa0emerging Latinx artists like Cuco and La Do\\xf1a. She\'s the founder of\\xa0Casa Mija (FKA mija mgmt), a program for\\xa0BIPOC youth interested in a career in the music business. Her story is detailed in the\\xa0Disney original documentary Mija, which follows this ambitious activist on her mission to change the industry.\\xa0

Now, she\'s taking the mic herself, recording under the name\\xa0Doris Anah\\xed. Her debut EP is titled\\xa0Aprendiendo por las Malas, or "Learning the Hard Way," which is something she surely did during her time as a music manager.

In an interview with LatinPlug, she says the EP "really tells the different stories of that whole chapter of my life." She adds, "Where I felt like all these repressed songs came from all these lessons that I had to learn the hard way these last few years. Largely because I didn\'t follow my gut, because I was so stubborn and clinging to a version of myself, the version that people wanted me to be. In the end, you end up learning the hard way. When you\'re not honest with yourself, you\'re not honest with others, and that\'s exactly where the hard lessons come in."\\xa0
