In this episode, Shruti talks with Mahima Vasishth about her job market paper, \\u201cLocal Media Reports About Sexual Crimes and Judicial Outcomes in India.\\u201d They discuss the effects of media coverage on sexual harassment cases, what factors may be driving increased coverage, whether the gender of local politicians affects case outcomes and much more. Vasishth is a Ph.D. candidate in economics at the University of California, Irvine. Her research interests include labor economics, development economics and public economics, especially the factors that shape women\\u2019s economic outcomes.
