William R. Hearst III\xa0is the editor and publisher of\xa0Alta Magazine\xa0and\xa0chairman of the board of Hearst Corporation, one of the nation\u2019s largest diversified media and information companies. He has been a director of Hearst Corporation for more than 30 years. In addition, he is president of the William Randolph Hearst Foundation, and has been actively engaged in the charitable activities and programs of the Hearst Foundation for the last 20 years.
Daniel Hernandez\xa0is editor of\xa0LA Taco\xa0and a contributor to KCRW and KPCC. He is former Mexico bureau chief for VICE News, and former staff writer at the\xa0Los Angeles Times\xa0and\xa0LA Weekly. He\xa0is also the\xa0author of the book\xa0Down & Delirious in Mexico City\xa0(2011), which details his experiences in one of the planet\u2019s most electrifying cities.
Norman Pearlstine\xa0has worked as a reporter and editor for nearly five decades. Previous to being named executive editor of the\xa0Los Angeles Times\xa0in 2018, Pearlstine served as chief content officer and then vice chairman of\xa0Time\xa0and was Chief Content Officer at Bloomberg. He has also worked for the\xa0Wall Street Journal\xa0and\xa0Forbes, and launched\xa0Smart Money. He is the author of\xa0Off the Record: The Press, the Government, and the War over Anonymous Sources\xa0(2007).
Christa Scharfenberg\xa0is CEO of The Center for Investigative Reporting (CIR). Since 2003, she has helped it grow from a small nonprofit news organization to a multi-platform newsroom that reaches millions of people. She managed the launch of\xa0Reveal, CIR\u2019s award-winning national public radio show and podcast, produced with PRX, and has been executive producer on CIR documentaries, including the Academy Award-nominated film\xa0Heroin(e)\xa0(2017).
Christina Bellantoni\xa0(moderator) is a professor of professional practice and director of the Annenberg Media Center. She joined the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism in August 2018 after having served as an assistant managing editor at the\xa0Los Angeles Times. Bellantoni has spent over 20 years in journalism, serving as editor-in-chief of the Capitol Hill newspaper\xa0Roll Call\xa0and, prior to that, political editor at\xa0PBS Newshour.
