Rick Wilson

Peter Schorsch hunkers down with Rick Wilson to talk about his career, life as a bestselling New York Times author, being at one time a “five-horse family,” and, of course, Donald Trump. Wilson warns not to underestimate Trump, even during this current coronavirus pandemic, saying that he has “wily crafty kind of rats jumping off the sinking ship behavior.” As for his own personal hunkering down: “I’ve got a chest freezer full of delicious meats. I got well-stocked in every regard (including ammo), so I feel like I’m prepared for the corona apocalypse.” Wilson — an "OG Never-Trump Guy" — also talks about the folly of getting into a culture war with Trump because it doesn’t help people in this country right now. He also points out the lack of leadership in the White House, which prevented America from doing the things that could have had some control over the pandemic, such as isolation and social distancing. Keeping your eye in the big picture is one thing, but Wilson also recommends staying informed about what’s happening in your state and your community. “That’s really what’s important right now, because — let’s be honest — there’s a degree to which we are on our own.” Wilson is watching how his hometown of Tallahassee, as well as Tampa and Orlando, responds to the coronavirus pandemic. It’s mostly because the next few days could mean the difference between it being “very, very bad” or something that’s just “terrifyingly horrible.” Special Guest: Rick Wilson .
