Michael Russell, Cabinet Secretary for Education & Lifelong Learning, the Scottish Government discusses the upcoming Scottish debate in September 2014, “Should Scotland be an independent country?” Michael has been Education Secretary in the Scottish Government since 2009, having previously served as Minister for Environment, and Minister for Culture, External Affairs and the Constitution. He is a graduate of Edinburgh University and the author of seven books, including Edinburgh: A Celebration (1992), In Waiting: Travels in the Shadow of Edwin Muir (1998), and The Next Big Thing: A Fable of Modern Scotland (2007).
