Artist Hanae Utamura on Nature, Grief, and Life

Hanae Utamura's series \u201cPresence of Absence\u201d was \u201cborn out of the contemplation of a ritual site where placenta, an organ that grows fetus inside the womb before birth, and human remains were buried beneath a European Larch Tree in Prospect Park, Troy, NY.\u201d Hanae speaks about this series and her themes of nature, grief, and life in her artwork with Sina Basila Hickey of Hudson Mohawk Magazine.
