Disagreeing

I\u2019ve always felt that disagreement is merely confusion in disguise.\xa0 When we don\u2019t understand the other person\u2019s perspective we tend to disagree. So often we are so busy trying to get them to understand our view that we don\u2019t even attempt to understand theirs.\xa0 We listen to respond not to hear what they are saying.
When we are so invested in being \u201cright\u201d there is no room for understanding.\xa0 You can try to \u201cget it right\u201d and not HAVE to be right. \xa0
Unless the disagreement is rooted in oppression or denial, it is possible to disagree and still love and respect the other person and their opinion.
Creating a safe space for someone (or maybe you) to admit they misunderstood is the greatest way to come to mutual understanding.\xa0 This space must include respect and patience.
