Ray Douglas Bradbury (1920-2012) was a novelist, short-story writer, essayist, playwright, screenwriter, and poet. Bradbury\'s short story "Pendulum", written with Henry Hasse, was published in 1941 in the pulp magazine\\xa0Super Science Stories. The protagonist, Layeville, had built a time machine and invited the world\\u2019s top scientists to attend its first performance.
