Gender Roles

Do you believe in traditional gender roles when it comes to marriage? In a heterosexual relationship traditionally the man is deemed the protector, provided and head of household, while the woman role is to be the nurture, housekeeper and submissive being. Nowadays some wives out-earn husbands in their marriages and studies have shown that the growth in women’s employment has made it harder to have a successful marriage, in some cases even when the wife doesn’t earn more. So what happens when who you are doesn’t fit into the role that you’ve been assigned by society? When the woman by a wide margin makes more than spouse should we bend the traditional expectations for each other a little? Can a marriage last if the woman and man have to internalize society idea that the man is supposed to be the breadwinner or at least ½?
