Say Anything...

Say Anything is a pretty impressive directorial debut for Cameron Crowe. Not only does it establish all of the hallmarks we now associate with his films, it also does so with more confidence than you usually see with a lot of first-time directors. Crowe\'s not taking his awkward first steps as a filmmaker. He pretty much hit his stride right out of the gate.

Which is not to say there aren\'t aspects of this that seems a little awkward in retrospect. One of us had never seen this before and so there were a lot of things the other two had always taken at face value that were suddenly being called into question.

Topics include: Crowe\'s process of finding his films during the editing process and the pros and cons of that approach, the backlash against characters like Lloyd Dobler in the current cultural landscape and whether or not he\'s a deserving target, our humiliating break-up stories, your most elaborate romantic gestures, real life retweets, and much much more!
