CIRCUMSTANCE
I control your emotions like a thermostat!
One second you're calm, the next you attack!
I can cause you to smile or to frown;
I can cause you to feel up or feel down!
I’m your god! I’m your king!
I can make you do anything!
I like the control I have on you;
Whatever I say, that you will do!
I control you with shame and regret!
I control you with sickness and with debt!
I control you with fear and with hate!
I control you with minor and major mistakes!
I work through those closest to you;
If they do right, so do you!
You lose your joy when others do wrong-
You lose your focus and your song!
There are many I control just like you!
I’m only defeated by a very few.
A good day for my people is just by chance;
I’m a strong foe - I'm Circumstance!
I Circumstance have total control!
Do as I say! Do as you're told!
I have no intention of playing fair;
I bring bad tidings from the
"Prince of the Air"!
I surf on the waves of your fear and doubt;
Up and down, in and out!
Roller coaster, yo-yo, merry-go-round;
I hold your emotions securely bound!
Your joy's unsteady; it comes and goes!
Your next reaction, no one knows!
One minute you appear faithful and strong;
But that don't usually last very long!
When things go your way you are happy and calm;
But the slightest trouble sets you off like a bomb!
I bring discouragement to the strongest teams;
Destroying marriages and many dreams!
Only those strong in praise and prayer
can block my seed of hopeless despair!
