The Hearts of the Fathers Podcast explores the lives and stories of the pioneers who settled Utah and the American West, and connects those stories with their living descendants.
Season 1 will tell the stories of 12 individuals who were handcart pioneers in 1856, who walked 1,300 miles from Iowa to Utah pulling all their worldly possessions with them in handmade handcarts.\\xa0 Some came to escape religious persecution, some came to be with family, others came for adventure and opportunity.
We will tell their stories beginning with Edmund Lovell Ellsworth, who was the Captain of the very first group to make the handcart journey.
