Episode 480: Standing Outside a Broken Phone Booth with Money in My Hand

Part One: Train is a Terrible Band

This episode begins with some reminiscing. Back in high school, a girl pushed Fro through a classroom wall. In trying to allude to the girl’s name, Jack goes on a rant about the band Train. You might remember Train’s music from the PA system at your local supermarket.

Meanwhile, it’s the 30th anniversary of the release of Super Mario World. Always the Sega fanboy, Jack asks the room which of the Super Mario 3D All Stars is better – Sunshine, or Galaxy? Also always the king of bad decisions, Jack regales the time he speed-ran through Sonic 3 & Knuckles using Tails.

Continuing a holiday tradition from the Talk Radio Meltdown days, Jack features his favorite Thanksgiving audio – “Psycho Kid Ruins Thanksgiving.” This clip is the Alice’s Restaurant of YouTube!

Part Two: We Watch “All Gas No Brakes” at a Proud Boys Rally

These segments always provide a gold mine for audio. Jack plays for Fro and Nate a recent installment from the All Gas No Brakes channel on YouTube. Host Andrew Callaghan attends a Proud Boys rally in Portland, Oregon. It goes about as well as one should expect.

(As Fro points out, it takes an hour to go through a seven-minute long YouTube video…)

Part Three: That One Song by Primitive Radio Gods

This segment stars with Fro ranting about “flat Earthers” and the cult known as Scientology. Jack has no idea that John Travolta is among the Hollywood crazies who believe in this malarkey. Jack also has no idea why anyone – famous or not – would live in the Hollywood hills.

Moving on, Jack asks if anyone has watched the Animaniacs reboot on Hulu. Discussing segments from the show’s original run leads Fro to tell a story involving his bicycle and a crazy kid in his neighborhood, which nearly kills Jack in laughter. “Is it hot in here, or is it just me?”

Concluding this episode, Jack presents two stories for “How Fucking Dumb Are You?” The band Trapt continues to exist, this time getting their Facebook account deleted for a Proud Boys-related post. In keeping with this podcast’s theme of never staying on-topic, this segues into Jack discussing ridiculously long song and album titles.

Elsewhere, in Russia, Darwinism strikes again as local buffoons end up in hospital for drinking hand sanitizer. Fro goes off about hand sanitizer, bringing this episode to a riveting end. On that note, subscribe to Nate’s channel on YouTube, and wear a damn face mask!
