In this episode, we speak with Sam Spinks. Apart from working full-time as a health promotion officer at Primary Care Connect, Sam is currently running for a seat on the Greater Shepparton City Council. She is passionate about finding solutions to combat climate change and support the local environment, as well as a strong supporter and advocate for the LGBTQIA+ community, First Nations community, and multicultural groups.

Listen in as Sam discusses why she decided to run for council and her journey thus far, how she balances work and her campaign with being a single mom to two young boys, what it means to be a public figure who inspires the community around her to grow alongside her, and the edge that she intends to bring as a leader that is both authentic and forward-thinking beyond the confines of government bureaucracy.

● It’s not what they’re promising right now or what they stand for what's important; it’s what they intend to do in five years.
