Recall | Ep. 101 Tracking Principles

There have been countless guests and topics covered in episodes throughout the years that are truly invaluable and worth revisiting. Going through some of the back catalog and re-listening to some of the older episodes, I was honestly surprised at some of the information and details I have forgotten myself over the years. I wanted to try and highlight some of these guests and topics so I am going through and scrubbing some of the episodes and "remastering" them. Im cutting out any of the fluff such as the intros or outros so you hear just the meat and potatoes of these conversations. This should allow you to revisit these older episodes without having to sit through anything that happens to no longer be timely or applicable to the topic.\n\nI'm revisiting Ep. 101 Tracking Principles which was originally released on 7/12/21. Jay Crafter of Invictus K9 and Grayson Guyer of Lost Highway Kennels joined me after a tracking clinic they put on to discuss the principles and foundations of a quality tracking dog. It goes beyond just tracking blood! This subject also transcends just training a tracking dog as theres a ton of information in this one in regards to building drive and desire in any type of dog! This is 100% applicable to our bird dogs!\n\nFoundations of tracking\n\nSelecting your new tracking dog\n\nThe lowest value reinforcer for the greatest change of behavior\n\nFiguring out your dog's drive!\n\nRestraint to create value in the reward by manipulating back pressure\n\nTracking vs air scenting\n\nHow to release the dog for a confident start\n\nChanges of behavior (COB) and rewarding the momentum\n\nTraining in low odor makes tracking blood easy!\n\nMaking the track harder with age and accessory odors\n\nTracking is tracking regardless of surfaces\n\nRunning parallel rather than right on top\n\nActually setup for distractions!\n\nVersatility is always a sacrifice\n\nPrinciples, routines, and trusting the dog!\n\n-\nPresented By:\n\nStanding Stone Supply | Use Code: GDIY to save 15%\n\nonX Hunt Maps | Use Code: GDIY20 to save 20%\nFinal Rise\nUpland Gun Company\n-\nOther Partners:\nBPro Kennels\nEukanuba [What I Feed My Dogs: Premium Performance 30/20]\nBird Dog Society\n-\nGDIY Links:\nPatreon | Instagram | Facebook | Website\nLearn more about your ad choices.
