The NAMM show (National Association of Music Merchants) happens twice a year and isn't open to the public. The expo area showcases the latest tools and instruments on the market so that merchants can place their orders to get the stuff in their stores for musicians to purchase. So while the event is restricted to music industry insiders, the bonus of this is that often there are artist walking around taking a look at the latest products or demoing equipment.
