Yesterday, the US military killed top Iranian military leader Gen. Qasem Soleimani in a targeted assassination via drone strike in Baghdad, Iraq. This attack was no doubt in reaction to an attack on the US Embassy in Iraq that took place over the holiday. That attack, was in retaliation for an attack U.S. forces carried out on five Kataeb Hezbollah facilities in Iraq and Syria on Sunday. Those airstrikes were in retaliation for an attack on Dec. 27, in which an American contractor was killed and several U.S. military service members were wounded in a 30-plus rocket barrage on a military base near Kirkuk, in northern Iraq.
