Gwinnett\u2019s mask rules are based on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention\u2019s transmission measurements. When transmission is high, the district requires staff to wear masks.
On Thursday, the CDC reported the county\u2019s level dropped from high to medium. The district stated on its website that it lifted the mask requirement, but it still \u201cstrongly encourages\u201d masks in school buildings.
Staff in Gwinnett schools have been required to wear masks for about a month.
