Peachtree Corners' Curiosity Lab received nearly half-a-million dollars on Tuesday to work on new transit technologies designed to connect communities and spur economic growth within them.
Curiosity Lab and Peachtree Corners officials joined U.S. Rep. Carolyn Bourdeaux to announce $495,000 in funding that the lab received as part of Bourdeaux's fiscal year 2022 Community Funding Project requests for the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2022. Curiosity Lab has been a hub for testing new transit technologies, such as autonomous shuttles.
“Transit is the number one impediment to economic growth in our community,” Bourdeaux said in a statement. “I am deeply proud to have delivered on my promise to invest in Gwinnett County’s transit services and infrastructure. Peachtree Corners’ Curiosity Lab is developing new and innovative ways to move people around our communities. This funding will ensure they can continue to push the limits and carry Georgia into the future.”
