Italian football expert John Solano joins the boys this week for Part One of their Deep Dive on AS Roma. Despite a relatively sub-par 90s, Roma returned to form in the early 2000s by winning the Scudetto on the last day of the 2000-2001 season by beating Parma 3-1. However, since then they have finished runners up in Serie A nine times - losing out to Juventus, AC Milan and Jose Mourinho's Inter Milan as well as crashing out in the late stages of the Champions League to Liverpool, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Arsenal. We look at how Fabio Capello's 3-5-2 formation was so attractive, the influence of Francesco Totti, their failed ownership, and contrast their fortunes with their bitter city rivals Lazio who have also failed to win the title since 2000 when they won it under former England football team coach Sven-Goran Eriksson.
